Outside the gazebo in the Rose Garden section of Elizabeth Park is a favorite place for weddings because of the surrounding roses. Inside the gazebo is private when the vines are in leaf. For example, the people inside the gazebo are not visible in the photo.
In the Rose Garden there are large arches (ideal for processions), with the rose beds arranged like spokes of a wheel with the gazebo as the hub.
Across from the Rose Garden is the Elizabeth Park Perennial Garden, with its own gazebo. This gazebo will comfortably hold more than 25 people plus the couple and celebrant. When you provide your own chairs, 50 people could witness the wedding ceremony.
Behind the Perennial Garden gazebo, toward the Rock Garden, is an archway with hanging greenery. The sunken area is a good place for last-minute preparation before you begin your procession to the gazebo for your ceremony.
At the right, I'm encouraging people to join the handfasting ceremony that is about to begin under the gazebo. The ribbons shown gently blowing in the breeze will be used by the guests as well as the celebrant to join the joyous couple.
Please see the Unity Ceremony Page for a discussion of handfasting with ribbons and cords.
In the fall, Elizabeth Park takes on the colors of autumn. For example, the leaves on the Rose Garden gazebo turn brilliant colors before falling.
No matter what time of year you have your wedding, the stone bridge over the ponds is an ideal place for photographs!
The official Web Site (WWW.ElizabethPark.Org) has different photos and other information, including the schedule of events.
The Pond House (WWW.PondHouseCafe.Com), located in Elizabeth Park, is an excellent place for your reception after your wedding in Elizabeth Park Rose Garden. The food is very good and the service is outstanding. (I speak from personal experience!)
